EXERCISE - an Alternative Approach

The kinds of exercises we are looking at here are those that combine movement with relaxed joints, tendons and muscles rather than muscular tension. This is different to regular recreational sports - like jogging or playing tennis, for example. And it's a lot, lot different to going for a workout at the gym! In exercise systems such qi gong or tai ji, for example, the arms and shoulders should be kept in a relaxed state throughout. When this occurs, the circulation of energy, blood and lymph fluid is increased, all of which has a positive effect on our long-term state of health.

This page has three main links. YOGA, TAI JI and QI GONG. All of these topics have many similarities and they spring from a common source. They are systems of exercise that have great antiquity and have stood the test of time. The key to success is firstly to find a teacher with whom you feel comfortable, and then to practice frequently and regularly, at least once a day. Then relax, be patient and enjoy the process of discovery.
